A Walking Dead Party for Aiden's 7th!

My little Man loves everything Zombie, as do I! So when he told me he wanted a zombie party for his 7th I was pretty excited!!!

Here is the Food Table! It was a lot of fun coming up with this and I got tons of idea on pinterest!
We had Pizza intestines, salsa (curdled blood) with chips, chocolate pudding, little smokies (per request of Aiden), and cake!

The "survival food" section of the table! Soup, Tuna, Meat and water! You can also see the Zombie Survival guide, that was the Hubby's and made a great prop for the table!

The "Medical" section of the table! First aid stuff kit, bandages, gloves, scissors, medical tape! Of course medicines as we'll! The "medicines" where good n plenty, skittles, tic tacs, altoids, and almond joys pieces. Don't worry I went into great detail explaining to my kids that there is a BIG difference between candy and medicine!

I decided while looking at this sign at the party I totally should have take red paint and did it like Rick did in the show and put "NO SANCTUARY" It was an after thought! :)

You cant have a Walking Dead Party without a HUGE can of Chocolate Pudding!

The cake! I had a lot of fun doing this cake and he LOVED it! It is a vanilla cake, with buttercream icing and marshmallow fondant! I used silver "cake dust" mixed with water for the metal chain and door handles. Color gel for decorating.

The favor table! Make your own zombie survival kit! Twinkies, jerky, flashlights, compasses, hand sanitizer marked "z-virus", granola bars, peanuts, glow-sticks, and water bottles. \

Target Practice! We had Nerf Zombie Strike guns set-up for target practice. I forgot to take a picture of all the guns! We didn't buy the guns Aiden loves everything nerf and zombie so he had a bunch of the guns!

The front door! DO NOT ENTER INFECTED INSIDE! Chained shut (we'll for pre-tend)!

It was such a fun day and Aiden told me that night it was "best day ever"!

C-Section Hospital Packing List! Baby #4!

I am two weeks out from welcoming Baby #4 to our Family and I can't wait!!! This entire pregnancy I have been planning on having a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). I have a GREAT Dr. and she was on board and happy with my decision to VBAC, especially considering my first two were Vaginal Births. #3 was a C-section because she was in a transverse position. Than at my 36 week appointment she got the paperwork from my previous Dr. who did my C-section and turns she only did one set of sutures instead of two because the lining of my Uterus was very thin. So after lots of praying and talking to my husband we decided an elective C-section was what I needed to do. I was disappointed and even cried on the phone to my husband and mother when I called them after my appointment to tell them. No I am good with it and know it is the right decision! So in two weeks we will get to welcome our newest little man into our family!

This is my fourth baby so I pretty much KNOW what I need for the hospital! My Original list included things to have for the Labor & Delivery which I will now not need (I actually had this bag packed and ready to go). This is my What to Pack for a C-section list! It is pretty much the same things you will need for recovery as with a vaginal birth.

For Mom!

Books or magazines: You may end up not using them but with a C-section you will be in the hospital for 3 days so take them just in case you want something to do!

Camera: I suggest having DH take this in with you and not putting it in your bag, you'll want him to take pictures especially of that hour your in recovery where the weigh baby, clean him up etc.!

PJ's/Nursing PJ's/ Skirt: I don't have nursing PJ's in the picture because I am not sure if I am going to go with PJ's or a night gown (Still have to pick that up this week). They will be coming in and checking out your incision a lot! That is why a friend suggested a skirt. This one has a really wide waist. You will want something super comfy that will go high so it is above your incision. I will probably stay in the hospital gown the first day and then decided. So just be prepared you don't know what is going to feel best.

Some people like to pack a going home outfit. For me after a C-section I am just going to go home in PJ's because once I get home I'll be changing into them anyways. So you decide.
Phone charger

Flip flops: I went and got these at the dollar tree. So guy buy a cheap pair to use when you take a shower.

Slippers

Toiletries: Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, deodorant, face-wash, body wash,  tooth-paste & toothbrush, Brush/comb, lanolin/nipple cream, make-up.

Trash bag: For taking dirty clothes home in.

Pre-natals: The hospital will most likely give these to you if you ask, but I decided to take them so I could have the same ones I've been taking for the pregnancy.

Underwear: Now this one is up to you. I am not taking them because I always use the very fashionable mesh ones they give you at the hospital. Anything you use is going to get bloody. That's right even with a C-section your going to bleed, it will probably be less but sorry it's still going to happen.

For Baby!

Going home outfit/Picture outfit: I just decided to use the same outfit for both, less to pack! You wont want to take more outfits then that there is just no need for them.

2 Onsies: Just in case you want to put baby in something besides the hospital shirt.

Socks

Mittens: So they don't scratch themselves, or you.

Hats: I'm taking two again just for something different then the one you get at the hospital.

Swaddle Blanket: You don't really need this I just like to have one cute one!

Nursing Pillow

Nursing cover

File & Clippers: Baby's a lot of time come out with long nails.

Car seat: Install before you leave but leave in the car until it is time to go home.

For Dad!
Snacks: You might want some too for late at night when your up feeding baby, and just to have some stuff you like there. Remember your going to be there 3 days!

A roll of quarters for vending machine

Cell phone charger

If he is staying at the hospital with you pack PJ's, change of clothes (2 or 3), and his toiletries.

Have everything ready to go and by the door!

Trust me this is all you will need! I have done this 4 times and anything else you wont use! You may want to take you I-pad/Kindle/lap top if you have one to keep you busy, but everything else leave at home.

The hospital will provide you with everything you need for recovery such as pads etc. My hospital give you an abdominal binder after a C-section and it is a LIFE SAVER! Check with your hospital if they don't have the GET ONE! They also provide diapers, wipes, and everything like that you will need for baby!

Anything left in baby's bassinet when it is time to go home take with you! I will also be doing a post on what to take from the hospital so be looking for that!

Good luck mama's welcoming your new baby's earth-side!

Paint Can Stove!

Here is my next Emergency Preparedness DIY from Pinterest!
Here is the original image.
An here is a link to the Original Blog Post over at Prepared Not Scared!

Here is what you need (minus the 4x4 tile, and paint key haven't picked those up yet)!
Gallon pain can
Quart Paint can
Bottle of Alcohol
Roll of toilet paper
Paint key
4x4 Tile

You will also need a push-in can opener & Hammer!

Take your can opener and make opens around the top and bottom of the gallon paint can. First time I have used our can opener and apparently it is a crappy one! Dented my can up pretty bad, maybe paint cans just are more flimsy too.

Fold the toilet paper so you can get it inside the can then pour the alcohol over the toilet paper. Then pull out the cardboard center.

Cover quart can with lid and hammer down tight!

Now your ready to cook on it! If your just going to use it to cook things on a stick marshmallows, hot dogs etc. take the lid off the quart can and light the toilet paper. If your using a pan then put the gallon can upside down on the quart can with the tile underneath the quart can!

I will update with what we thought about it when we try it out! I would love to see pictures of you paint can stoves so send them to me!

Fire Starter Disk's

OK so I am a TOTAL Pinterest Junkie!! I have 63 Boards and 1 hidden board Yup Obsessed!! One of my Boards is an Emergency Preparedness Board, and I have tons of stuff pinned! One thing I had pinned was these Fire Starter disks! When I tried again to go to the Blog so I could give credit where I got the idea from it appears to be gone now, :( The blog was http://jjmatheshikes.blogspot.com/

Here is the picture from the original pin.

Here is my experience!

You will need:
Cotton Swab Rounds
Old Candles
A small pot
foil or wax paper

First you have to get some wax and melt it. I just used candle's I had lying around.

Then place the cotton swab rounds in the melted wax.

And then put on wax paper or foil until set!

Finished product! Not as good looking as the original pins but who cares what it looks like as long as it works right?!

Here it is on fire! It had a really good strong flame and it is raining in the picture!

Here is my Emergency Preparedness Board! What should I try next?!

The few don't represent the many

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have been my whole life. Every April and October the Leaders of our church hold what we call General Conference. It is a two day Conference of talks given by The Leaders in our Church. Next Saturday (Oct. 5th) there will be a General Priesthood session. This session is for the Men and Young Men 12 and older of our church to come together and receive instruction and edification pertaining to them.

There is a small group of Women who had requested tickets to the live Session in Salt Lake City, UT. The request was denied. In a letter to the group Spokeswoman Ruth Todd Said “It is the hope of the church that the priesthood session will strengthen the men and young men including fathers and sons, and give them the opportunity to gather and receive instruction related to priesthood duties and responsibilities, much the same way parallel meetings are held for sisters, such as the general Relief Society meeting."

This group plans to approach the Ushers next Saturday at the Priesthood Session and ask for Stand-by tickets.

For me I just don't understand this. I don't know why these Women would want the priesthood. That is not the way our Heavenly Father intended it or that is the way it would be. I hear them saying things like "equality". Equality when did anyone ever say Equality meant being the exact same? The definition of Equality is: the state of being equal, esp. in status, rights, and opportunities. We get to share in the blessings, rights, and opportunities of the priesthood as LDS Women and even those who aren't members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint's sometimes get to share in these same things!

The Priesthood doesn't work very well without the Women in the church. We work along side our Husbands, Fathers, Son's, and Church Leaders when they are Exercising the Priesthood. We have some pretty big shoes to fill as Mothers (and even if you haven't yet had Children you are still a Mother to someone). We are in charge of the rearing (and the carrying for 9 months) of our children. It is our Job to keep them on the right path and help them to make good decisions, now our Husbands also share in this duty just as we as Women share in the Duty of the Priesthood. We don't have to be Holders of the Priesthood in order to exercise it or join in on the blessings from it.

I have also read the word "respect" being used. To me this is a huge Disrespect to our Leaders. If you Sustain them as Our Prophet and Leaders of the Church then you also agree that the Church is run on inspiration directly from our Father in Heaven. Decision's aren't made due to popularity, or "what the people want". God is the Same today, yesterday and tomorrow. He will never change.

I have read this group believes that Women receiving the Priesthood is just another expansion whose time has come, as it was expanded to the gentiles and in 1978 expanded to all worthy males. I have to disagree with this. I don't see the Priesthood ever being Held by Women, we have too many other important things we are n charge of without adding that to the pile.

I say lets get back the real Reason behind General Conference. To be edified and receive counsel on the things we face in this day and age.

Chore Charts!

I made some very simple chore charts for the kids. I used pictures instead of word because my Little's are still little!

I am hoping this will get my kiddo's more excited to do there chore's. I am going to buy some dollar store toys and have "mommies store" where they can earn money to be used at Mommy's store!

So here is one of the charts! Feel free to change the name and print one for your own use!

Cleaning, not fun but must be done!

I am sure there are people out there who like cleaning. I am NOT one of those people! I actually despise it very much! I have three little ones at home 5, 3, and 2 so as soon as I get a room cleaned and move to the next room, it seems like they have the previous room dirty again before I get room number 2 done! Its a never ending battle!

So I came up with a list to help me get things done! This list is very effective when used! When I am doing good and sticking to my list, the house stays pretty clean. We'll if you can overlook the kids toys and clothes they throw all over the place!

Here is a link to my list! Please feel free to print it out and use it in your house! Your house wont stay immaculate especially if you have young ones like me, but it will stay pretty clean, and you'll get done what needs to be done!
Cleaning List!

Enjoy!

What do you do to save time cleaning?
